Cross Country competes at Platte River Rumble

MU men place 5th and MU women place 8th
Omaha, NEBRASKA – Friday afternoon, Marquette University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Platte River Rumble, hosted by Creighton University. The MU men placed fifth, and the women placed eighth in the event.
"Couldn't have asked for a better race as a team from both programs today," head coach Sean Birren said. "On a wet muddy course we had some of our best results for both men and women today."
The meet began with the women's 6k race. Senior captain Lexi Keppler paced the Golden Eagles, finishing first for MU with a time of 22:57.0. She recorded a personal best in this race.
Freshmen Emma Coon (23:24.5) and Brinley Everson (23:37.3) finished second and third for the Golden Eagles in the race. Coon and Everson recorded personal bests in this race. Junior Audrey Grimm finished fourth for MU with a time of 23:46.7.
The men's 8k began shortly after the women's race concluded. Senior David Zeller lead the Golden Eagles finishing with a time of 24:55.7.
"David Zeller and Lexi Keppler continues to lead the way for the men and women," head coach Sean Birren added. "Holding Dan Weizeorick this week cost the men some points and a team place but the men battled and were just one point shy of fourth place."
Freshman Nick Parrell finished second with a personal best of 25:28.1. Junior Tyler Re finished third for the Golden Eagles with a time of 25:45.3. Senior Sean Kellogg finished fourth with a time of 26:02.3.
