Men Finish 8th, Women 10th
KENOSHA, Wis. – The Marquette men's and women's cross country teams competed at the BIG EAST Championships Saturday in Kenosha. The men placed eighth, and the women placed 10th in the conference championship.
"Great day to compete, everybody gave it their all out there today," head coach Sean Birren said. "We saw some good results from the top 1-2 on the men's and women's sides. I'm excited about the effort we put in, that's what we're looking for in two weeks as we get to regionals. We'll be ready for that."
The championship began with the men's 8k race. Senior Dan Weizeorick paced the Golden Eagles, finishing 42nd at 27:06.79. Senior David Zeller finished 45th at 27:14.95.
Freshman Nick Parrell finished inside the top-60 with a time of 27:30.79.
The women's 6k race ended the day. Senior Lexi Keppler led the Golden Eagles for the fifth time this fall. Just shy of a personal record, Keppler finished with a time of 22:52.04.
Freshman Emma Coon finished second for Marquette with a time of 23:25.16.
"We had talks in the beginning of the year and the biggest thing we talked about was consistency," Birren said. "Lexi, Dan and David have really played that out the whole season, very proud of them for putting their best foot forward."
