Golden Eagles set for 6:00 pm CT matchup vs Huskies
MILWAUKEE -Â The Marquette University men's soccer team (7-4-1, 1-3-0 BIG EAST) will travel to Connecticut on Saturday, October 15 as the team takes on UConn (6-5-1, 2-2-0 BIG EAST) for a 6:00 p.m. CT matchup at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium.Â
MSOC Drops 2-1 Decision To Xavier
Marquette fell to Xavier 2-1 on Saturday  afternoon at Valley Fields. Both teams started the match picking their spots on how they wanted to attack. At the 30th minute mark the two teams had combined for just one shot, and zero shots on goal.
In the 57th minute MU was called for a handball inside of the box on Jai Hsieh-Bailey and Xavier was awarded a penalty kick which resulted in a goal to take a 1-0 lead.
In the 85th Nico Pendleton broke through the Musketeers' backline and finds the back of the net for his first career goal & ties it up at 1-1, the goal was assisted by Brooklyn Merl for his third assist of the season.
In the 90th minute of the match Xavier intercepts Ludvig Målberg's pass and Jerome Jolly scores the game winning goal due to the MU keeper being away from the post.
MSOC Falls to Northern Illinois 1-0
Marquette fell to NIU 1-0 on Monday evening at Valley Fields.

The Golden Eagles started the game pressuring NIU looking to get their first couple shots on goal. Brooklyn Merl took the first shot of the game early in the 15th minute. Quality shots were taken throughout the first half ending with eight total shots on goal by Marquette.

Northern Illinois took the lead in the 78th minute, after Angel Rodriguez recovered his blocked shot and shot again to find the net leaving Marquette down by one.

The Golden Eagles had multiple opportunities near the end of the game finishing with 16 shots on goal, but ultimately could not find the back of the net.
Series History
The series history between Marquette and UConn began during the 1991 campaign. Saturday's matchup between the Golden Eagles and the Huskies will be the 12th matchup  in program history for the two squads. The last meeting of the two teams resulted in a 1-1 draw in Milwaukee.
