MSOC Travels To No. 7 Akron Saturday

Golden Eagles set for 6:00 pm CT matchup vs the Zips
MILWAUKEE -Â The Marquette University men's soccer team (7-5-2, 1-4-1 BIG EAST) will travel to Akron (9-1-5, 2-1-3 BIG EAST) on Saturday, October 21 for a 6:00 p.m. CT matchup at FirstEnergy Stadium.Â
Marquette Rallies For 3-3 Draw vs DePaul
Marquette started the match aggressively with three shots in the first nine minutes.

In the 10th minute, the Golden Eagles committed a foul in the box which resulted in a penalty kick that gave DePaul a 1-0 advantage early.Â

The Blue Demons scored their second goal of the night in the 20th minute coming off a corner kick. In the 22nd minute the Blue Demons broke through the Golden Eagles' backline and scored their third goal of the match giving them a 3-0 advantage.
In the 40th minute, Abdoul Karim Pare scored the first goal for the Golden Eagles assisted by Nico Pendleton.

Pare tallied his second career brace in the 56th minute of the match. The goal was assisted by Edrey Caceres.

In the 76th minute, Caceres tied the game with an assist from Beto Soto. Caceres recorded a goal and an assist in the match.
Golden Eagles Working Towards Postseason ActionÂ
Marquette comes into Saturday match ranked fifth in the Midwest standings.Â

This season the top eight teams from the league will earn a spot in the BIG EAST tournament.Â

The Golden Eagles currently hold four points in conference matches. Depending on other matchups in the conference Marquette will need to score valuable points in their last three matches for a BIG EAST tournament birth.Â

The Golden Eagles will close the season at home vs. Georgetown on October 28th.Â

The series history between Marquette and BIG EAST newcomer Akron began during the 1980 campaign. Saturday's matchup between the Golden Eagles and the Zips will be the first matchup between the two squads in 10 years. The last meeting of the two teams resulted in a 1-0 win for Marquette. The 2013 Â win for Marquette is the lone victory for the Golden Eagles, Akron has controlled the matchup with an overall record of 8-1-4.
