Golden Eagles play No. 2/2 Purdue for title at 4 p.m. CT on Wednesday
The No. 4/5 Marquette University men's basketball team (5-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) continued play at the 2023 Allstate Maui Invitational with a 73-59 victory against No. 1/1 Kansas (4-1, 0-0 Big 12) Tuesday night in Honolulu.
Forward Oso Ighodaro led the way with 21 points and nine rebounds and guard Chase Ross chipped in a career-high tying 12 points off the bench.
The Golden Eagles led by as many as 17 points in the second half, forcing 18 Kansas turnovers and holding the Jayhawks to just 40.7 percent from the floor.
Marquette led 38-28 at the intermission, using an 11-0 run midway through the first half to build a double-digit advantage. Kam Jones opened the scoring with a pair of treys and MU's defense forced 12 Kansas miscues in the opening 20 minutes of action.
