All-Time Series Dates Back To 1922-23
Marquette's all-time series against Creighton spans nearly the entirety of the program's 104-year history.
The Golden Eagles own a 58-39 advantage in the all-time series, but the Bluejays have claimed seven of the last 10 outings.
Prior to 2013-14, when the Bluejays joined the BIG EAST, the most recent meeting between the two programs came in the 1998 National Invitation Tournament. MU posted an 80-68 victory in the opening round at the Bradley Center en route to an appearance in the event's quarterfinals.
The Golden Eagles swept the home-and-home series in 2022-23, most recently earning a 73-71 win over the Bluejays in Omaha on Feb. 21, 2023. MU trailed by as many as 12 points in that game, before using a 13-0 run to take the lead midway through the second half. Guard Kam Jones led the way with 19 points and Oso Ighodaro and Tyler Kolek each chipped in 18 points.
Defense Leads The Way In Win Over Hoyas
Marquette picked up its first BIG EAST win of the season on Dec. 22, downing Georgetown, 81-51, thanks in large part to the team's effort on the defensive end.
The Golden Eagles held the Hoyas to just 32.8 percent from the field for the game, including a 5-of-25 (20.0 percent) effort from behind the 3-point line. Marquette turned 19 Georgetown turnovers into 28 points, finishing the game with 11 steals, and also collected 11 "kills" (three stops in a row).
The 30-point victory was the largest in league play for the Golden Eagles since defeating No. 16 Providence, 88-56, on Jan. 4, 2022 at Fiserv Forum.
Marquette Enjoying Extended Home Success
Dating back to last season, Marquette is in possession of a 18-game winning streak at Fiserv Forum, which is currently tied for the fourth-longest active streak in the country through games of Dec. 27.
The Golden Eagles claimed their final 11 home games in 2022-23 (16-1 overall) and are 7-0 to start this season.
MU's 16 home victories last year were the second most (17-0 in 1977-78) in program history and the team's 19-game homecourt winning streak in BIG EAST action dating back to 2021-22 is currently the longest in the conference and tied for the second-best in league history (20 - Marquette, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh).
Marquette last fell at Fiserv Forum in BIG EAST Conference action on Jan. 1, 2022 in a 75-69 double-overtime loss to Creighton.
Marquette and UCLA are tied for the longest current run in conference play (18 wins) and Oral Roberts now has the nation's best overall streak (21 games) after UCLA fell to CS-Northridge.
Under head coach Shaka Smart, the team is a combined 36-4 at home (includes win at Al McGuire Center in 2022-23).
