Track & Field Prepares for Pair of Weekend Meets

MU travels to Notre Dame Friday and Carthage Saturday
MILWAUKEE -Â The Marquette University men's and women's track & field team is competing in a pair of meets this weekend. Part of the squad will be heading to South Bend, Indiana on Friday for the Meyo Invitational. The remainder of the team will be competing Saturday in the Tadd Metzger Invitational at Carthage College.
MU returns to Notre Dame for the second time this season after opening the season there in December. The two-day event begins Friday at 11 a.m. CT. Marquette's first event will be the women's 60-meter hurdles at 3:30 p.m. CT. Live results for all events can be found here.
The rest of the Golden Eagles will travel down to Kenosha on Saturday for Tadd Metzger Invitational. The meet will kick off at 11:30 a.m. CT with the field events, and running events will follow at noon. Live results for Saturday's meet can be found here.
LAST TIME OUT
Marquette is coming off their fourth meet of the season in the Bill Clinger Classic at Grand Valley State University. 14 Golden Eagles made the podium and five claimed victory at GVSU. 32 MU athletes achieved personal bests at the meet.
The big team will split up again next Friday, Feb. 10 with members heading to the GVSU Big Meet and the Hoosier Hills Invitational hosted by Indiana.

- Simon Werven and Gus Kasun took first and second, respectively, in the heptathlon. Werven scored in the top two in six of seven events and finished with 4842 points. Kasun recorded PRs in all seven events and finished with a score of 4471, No. 8 all-time in the heptathlon at MU.
- Arianna Mansavage and Daylee Braden (57.21) took the top two spots in the 400 meters. Mansavage's time of 56.69 is the fourth fastest in the BIG EAST.
- Harry Baker claimed his second victory of the season in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.95 meters/6 feet, 4.75 inches.Â
- Sophomore Kaylee Hopp won the triple jump with a mark of 11.47 meters/37 feet, 7.5 inches.
- Freshman thrower Josh Pirogovsky earned his first collegiate victory in the shot put with a personal best mark of 14.71 meters/48 feet, 3.25 inches.
