Golden Eagles celebrate National Marquette Day
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's basketball team (19-5, 11-2 BIG EAST) defeated Butler (11-13, 3-10 BIG EAST) 60-52 on National Marquette Day.
It took a team effort to take down the Bulldogs with three Golden Eagles finishing in double figures. Guard Tyler Kolek led MU with 13 points and eight helpers.
The Golden Eagles led the Bulldogs 32-20 after the first 20 minutes of play. Defense helped MU build the early lead scoring 14 points off 11 first half turnovers by Butler. Kam Jones and Olivier-Maxence Prosper paced Marquette in the first with eight and seven points, respectively.
The Bulldogs fought back in the second half, outscoring MU 32-28. The Golden Eagles were able to hold on and take down Butler in a wire-to-wire victory.
