The No. 6/6 Marquette University men's basketball team (26-6, 17-3 BIG EAST) continues play at the 2023 BIG EAST Tournament presented by Jeep with a semifinal matchup against No. 11/14 UConn (25-7, 13-7 BIG EAST) at 5:30 p.m. CT on Friday, March 10 in Madison Square Garden. Â FS1 features the television broadcast, with Gus Johnson (play-by-play), Jim Jackson (analyst) and Kristina Pink (reporter) calling the action.
Short Series Has Plenty Of Highlights
  Â
Marquette has faced UConn on just 15 occasions all-time, but the limited series has already provided a number of memories.
  Â
The all-time series dates back to the program's first year in the BIG EAST in 2005-06.  MU hosted the Huskies at the Bradley Center on Jan. 3, 2006 in the team's first home game as a member of the BIG EAST Conference.  Steve Novak finished with 41 points and 16 rebounds and Jerel McNeal chipped in 19 points and 12 boards in a 94-79 Marquette victory over No. 2 UConn to hand the Huskies their first loss of the season.
  Â
Other series highlights include a game-winning shot by Jimmy Butler with three seconds left in a 70-68 win on the road on Jan. 30, 2010 and an overtime win by Marquette at home on Jan. 1, 2013 when Junior Cadougan forced the extra session on at 3-pointer as time expired in regulation.
  Â
The two teams split the season series, with each team winning on its respective home court. Â Marquette's victory was its first against the Huskies since they re-joined the BIG EAST and UConn's win was the last time the Golden Eagles have dropped a game (current seven-game win streak).
Late Heroics Extend Winning Streak  Â
  Â
Marquette is currently in the midst of a season-long seven-game winning streak after the quarterfinal victory over St. John's.
  Â
MU also claimed seven-consecutive decisions in 2021-22 and last won eight straight during the 2018-19 campaign. Â In the seven wins, Tyler Kolek leads the way with 18.1 points per game and the Golden Eagles are forcing 17.0 turnovers per contest, led by guard Stevie Mitchell's 3.3 steals per game.
