Van Vooren breaks meet record at Pacific Coast Intercollegiate
AZUSA, Calif. - The Marquette University track & field team wrapped up their west coast trip to California late Friday night. The Golden Eagles competed in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate at Long Beach State and the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific.
Mitchell Van Vooren left his mark by breaking the 400m hurdles meet record at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate. To claim victory and the meet record, Van Vooren cruised to a personal best time of 52.70. He moves up to No. 4 in the 400m hurdles on the all-time performance list.
In the steeplechase, Dan Weizeorick rolled to a big personal best of 8:56.59 at the Bryan Clay Invitational. Weizeorick's time ranks third best in program history. He placed 35th out of 132 finishers. On the women's side, Kate Jochims finished second in her heat with a time of 10:43.48. Anna Penzkover took fourth in her heat with a personal best of11:00.86.
Emily Noone finished fourth overall in the 1500m at Long Beach State with a time of 4:36.44. Noone also recorded a PR of 2:12.01 in the 800m the following day at Azusa Pacific.
In the field events, Annika Bynum took sixth out of 31 jumpers in the high jump with a mark of 1.66 meters/5 feet, 5.25 inches at Long Beach. Vinnie Voudrie (53.96m/177-0) and Trey Baskin (47.40m/150-6) recorded season-best marks in the hammer throw at Azusa Pacific on Friday. Voudrie was the top placer taking 12th.

The Golden Eagles return home next Saturday, Apr. 22 for the Marquette Invitational. The meet will be hosted at Wisconsin Lutheran and begins at 10 a.m. CT.
