
Track & Field Travels to Drake Relays

Competition at the 113th Drake Relays begins Thursday, April 27
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's and women's track & field team heads to the 113th Drake Relays this weekend. The meet will take place over three days from Thursday, April 27 to Saturday, April 29.
Those not making the trip to Drake will compete at UW-Whitewater on Friday, Apr. 28.
Competition at the Drake Relays will begin Thursday morning. The first Marquette event will be Thursday with the women's 800m at 5:35 p.m. CT. MU will compete in events through Saturday afternoon. Live results for the Drake Relays will be available here.
The remainder of the team will be competing closer to home at the Drake Alternative at UW-Whitewater. Action at Rex Foster Track will begin Friday at 11 a.m. Live results will be available here.
LAST TIME OUT
On Saturday, April 22 Marquette hosted their home meet, the Marquette Invitational at Wisconsin Lutheran's Raabe Stadium. The Golden Eagles competed through the rain, snow and cold at Saturday's meet.
On the women's side, MU had six individual event winners at the Marquette Invitational. On the track, Siani Brown-Carr took first in the 100m, tying her personal best with a time of 12.61. Anna Penzkover rolled to a personal best and the win in the 1500m with a time of 4:44.07. The MU women dominated the hurdles with Julia Beck winning the 100m hurdles (15.40) and Juru Okwaramoi taking first in the 400m hurdles (1:04.34). Kate Jochims was victorious in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:48.78.
In the field, Annika Bynum took the win in the high jump, clearing the bar at a height of 1.65m/5 feet, 5 inches. Mia Ketelhohn threw a personal best 39.21m/128 feet, 8 inches in the javelin to take first. Ketelhohn's mark ranks No. 6 all-time in MU history.
On the men's side, Mitchell Van Vooren finished runner-up in his first-ever 800m with a time of 1:56.20. Jared Humphrey took second place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.47.
In the field events, Adam Schommer took second place in the pole vault with a mark of 4.73m/15 feet, 6.25 inches. Senior Vinnie Voudrie placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.06m/174 feet, 1 inch. Caleb Venzke also earned runner-up honors in the javelin with a throw of 43.16m/141 feet, 7 inches.
After the meet, Marquette honored 29 members of the senior class.

The Golden Eagles will head to Madison next week for the Wisconsin Classic on Friday, May 5.
