Badawi clinches the win for MU
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's tennis team (7-10) takes 6-1 decision Thursday over St. John's (11-7) at Elite Sports Club - River Glen.
The Golden Eagles opened the match in thrilling fashion with earning a win at No. 3 but dropping the No. 2 match. Junior Emilija Kojcic and seniors Elisabeth Desmarais clinched the doubles point with a win at No. 1 after being down 3-1 in the set, the duo came back and took a 6-4 victory.
Emilija Kojcic took the first singles victory of the afternoon in a straight-set at the No. 1 position.
Emma Davis took a straight-set singles wins at 5 while not letting her opponent score more than three points in each set.
Junior Sarah Badawi earned her first clinch of the season for the Golden Eagles at the No. 4 spot. She earned the clinch in a straight-set fashion, (6-2, 7-5). With this win Sarah and Emilija share the team high in singles victories at 10 apiece.
Senior Elisabeth Desmarais took a win at No. 2 in a tie-breaker battle, the match went back and forth in the second and third sets, but Desmarais was able to pull off the victory.
Elizabeth Ferdman closed out a dominate showing by the Golden Eagles with a straight-set victory at the No. 6 spot.
