"I'm glad our guys showed some style and poised in the match," head coach Louis Bennett said. "I was pleased with how we came out in the second half with our adjustments."Â Â
Â
With a physical start to the match, the Golden Eagles committed a foul in the box in the fourth minute resulting in a Milwaukee penalty kick that found the back of the net to give the Panthers a 1-0 advantage.
Â
Milwaukee took a 1-0 edge into halftime after leading the Golden Eagles in shots 6-4. MU keeper Ludvig Malberg tallied three saves in the first half on four shots on goal by the Panthers.
Â
With UWM controlling the match offensively in the first half, Marquette came out of the locker room and applied pressure on Milwaukee right away after halftime. The Golden Eagles recorded four quality shots within the first 10 minutes of the second half.Â
Â
In the 62nd minute freshman Ryan Amond slotted a home ball and sent it to back of the net to tie the score at 1-1. The goal was Amond's second goal of the season and was assisted by Abdoul Karim Pare and Kyle Bebej.
The Golden Eagles ramped up pressure in the second half and ended the match with more shots than the Panthers (15-11).Â
