
Cross Country competes in Gans Creek Classic

MU men place 14th and women place 22nd in race
Columbia, MISSOURI – Friday morning the Marquette University men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Gans Creek Classic, hosted by The University of Missouri. The MU men placed 14th, and the women placed 22nd in the event.
"The men's team did a great job of getting out on pace and moved up well," head coach Sean Birren said. "On the women's side we showed great effort, and we will look to continue to work on pacing early on in the coming meets."Â
The meet started off with the men's 8k race. Senior Captain Dan Weizeorick paced the Golden Eagles, finishing first for MU with a time of 25:13.7.

Sophomore Tyler Re finished second with a personal best of 25:30.1. David Zeller finished third for the Golden Eagles with a time of 25:41.9. Freshman Brady Nelson recorded a personal best of 27:00.6 in his first competition.

For the women's 6k race, senior captain Lexi Keppler finished first for Golden Eagles with a time of 23:35.5. Keppler recorded a personal best in the race today.

Marquette underclassmen competed in their first 6k race today. Freshmen Emma Coon (23:49.2) and Brinley Everson (24:10.1) finished second and third for the Golden Eagles in the 6k race. Both Coon and Everson recorded a personal best in the event.
Mia Nutile finished fourth for MU with a time of 24:21.0.Â
