
WBB Dominates Xavier in Duffy’s 100th Win at Marquette

MILWAUKEE - The No. 19/20 Marquette women's basketball team dominated Xavier,81-52, in Megan Duffy's 100th win at Marquette on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles (13-2, 2-2 BIG EAST) had four in double-figures led by Mackenzie Hare, who had a game-high 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Hare hit four threes, the sixth time this season the sophomore has hit four-or-more threes in a game, and had three assists, three rebounds, and three steals.
Xavier scored the first eight points of the game in the first 1:52 that forced an early MU timeout. Marquette would close the half on a 35-7 run. Xavier scored five points in the second quarter, a season-low for points given up during the second ten minutes.
Marquette led by as many as 32 in the second half and forced a season-high 28 turnovers. Five Golden Eagles had at least two steals as MU had a season-high 14 for the game.
The Musketeers (1-11, 0-3 BIG EAST) were led by Daniela Lopez who had 13 points on 5-of-10 shooting.

- Marquette has won the last 15 meetings over Xavier, the longest active winning streak over a BIG EAST opponent for MU.
- Jordan King moved into the top-10 all-time on the Marquette career scoring list, passing Christine Kennedy (1991-95). King has 1,615 career points and is one of two players in program history to have over 1,500 career points and 500 career assists (Angel Robinson, 2007-11).
- Today was Megan Duffy's 100th win at Marquette. Duffy is the fastest coach to reach 100 wins in program history and is 100-39 overall in her fifth season. Her .719 winning percentage is best in program history.
- Duffy is the third coach in program history to have 100 wins in their Marquette career. Terri Mitchell (1996-2014) won 348 games in 18 years and Tat Shiely (1975-1986) had 111 wins in 11 years.
- Rose Nkumu had five assists, fourth time in the last four games the senior has had five-or-more assists.
- Claire Kaifes had season-highs in points (8), rebounds (5), and assists (3).
- Skylar Forbes had 10 points for the second time in three games and was perfect from the field (4-of-4) with a career-high three steals.
- Halle Vice had a career-high four points with two rebounds.
- Marquette hits the road to take on Seton Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m. CT.
