
Golf is Runner-Up at Dayton Flyer Invitational

The Golden Eagles concluded their fall season at NCR Country Club
KETTERING, OHIO – The Marquette University men's golf team finished two strokes off the pace set by event champion Kent State to conclude its fall season as runner-up in the Dayton Flyer Invitational at NCR Country Club.
The Golden Eagles (+17, 869) recorded tournament-low first (285) and third rounds (289), but a 11-over 295 in the second allowed Kent State to overtake MU as play finished Tuesday in Kettering, Ohio.
Junior Johan Widal led the Marquette contingent with a 1-over 214 (72-71-71) to tie for fifth place and paced the roster with 11 birdies over 54 holes. Sophomore Ryan Banas finished two strokes behind Widal at 3-over 216 (68-76-72) for the event and was among the leaders early Monday with a 3-under 68 to open competition.
Senior Patrick Adler finished third on the squad with a 4-over 217, following 1-over 72s in the first and third rounds in addition to a 2-over 73 the second. The native of Winnetka, Illinois carded nine birdies at NCR and entered the week No. 28 nationally in the Scoreboard by Clippd National College Golf Rankings.

THE COURSE
NCR Country Club's South Course ranks among Golfweek's Top Classic Courses list (built prior to 1960) and has hosted numerous state, regional and national golf championships over the last 70 years. It played as a par 71 at 7,000 yards for this week's tournament.
The course features wooded, rolling terrain, designed by famed architect Dick Wilson and has hosted the 1969 PGA Championship, won by Raymond Floyd, and the 2022 U.S. Senior Women's Open, among other events.
