No. 10/11 #MUBB Hosts Stonehill Wednesday Night

The No. 10/11 Marquette University men's basketball team (6-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 27 when the squad opens a two-game homestand against Stonehill (3-4, 0-0 NEC) at 8 p.m. CT at Fiserv Forum. Â FS2 features the national television broadcast, with Jason Ross Jr. (play-by-play) and Phil Martelli (analyst) calling the action. Â Following Wednesday's first-ever outing against the Skyhawks, MU will host Western Carolina on Saturday, Nov. 30.
Marquette Off To Best Start Since 2011-12

The Golden Eagles, who have claimed each of their first six outings, are off to the team's best start since the 2011-12 campaign.

Marquette opened that season 10-0, not falling until a 67-59 decision at LSU on Dec. 19, 2011. Â The Golden Eagles finished 27-8 overall and 14-4 in BIG EAST action, advancing to the Sweet 16 before losing to Florida in Phoenix, Arizona.
Joplin Nets Career Best In Latest Win

Senior forward David Joplin led all scorers with a career-best 29 points in the win over Georgia in the Bahamas, his ninth-career outing with 20-or-more points and second this season.

The Milwaukee native finished 9-of-17 from the field in 35 minutes of action and knocked down 6-of-11 from behind the 3-point line. Â He also chipped in five rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot.

Through games of Nov. 24, Joplin is ranked among the league leaders in scoring (13th, 15.2 ppg.), rebounding (10th, 6.3 rpg.) and free throw percentage (7th, .875).

Prior to Saturday's outing, Joplin had most recently reached double figures (27 points) against George Mason on Nov. 8. Â His previous single-game high was 28 points at DePaul on Jan. 28, 2023.

Junior forward Ben Gold netted a career-best 14 points in the win over Georgia, thanks to a strong effort from behind the 3-point line.

The Wellington, New Zealand native finished 4-of-9 from deep, collecting a single-game high in 3-pointers made and attempted. Â He also contributed six rebounds in 36 minutes of action.

Gold's previous career best was 12 points at UConn on Feb. 7, 2023 and his 14 points vs. the Bulldogs marked his fourth-career game with 10-or-more points.

Senior guard Kam Jones is ranked among the league leaders in assists (3rd, 6.2 apg.) and Marquette is third in the BIG EAST in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6), but the team has really excelled on the defensive end of the court.

Through games of Nov. 24, Marquette is ranked sixth in the nation in steals per game (12.2) and junior guard Chase Ross is second in the NCAA with 3.5 thefts per contest. Â Senior guard Stevie Mitchell is averaging 2.8 steals per outing, the eighth-best mark in the country.
