MILWAUKEE – Marquette University women's basketball defeated Illinois State, 78-57, on Sunday afternoon for their sixth win in a row.
Skylar Forbes had her first career double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The Golden Eagles (6-2, 0-0 BIG EAST) had three in double figures including Lee Volker, who had 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, five assists and two steals.
Olivia Porter added 11 points and had a career-high tying seven assists, the most assists by an MU player this season. Halle Vice had nine points and six boards, the sixth time this season she has pulled down six-or-more boards in a game.
Marquette held Illinois State to nine points in the first quarter, the ninth time this season MU held an opponent to 10 points or less in a quarter.
The Golden Eagles led by as many as 28 points in the second half and led by double digits for the last 30 minutes and 58 seconds of game action.
Illinois State (5-4, 0-0 MVC) was led by Shannon Dowell, who had 12 points.
