Jauch records his first clinch of the season for the Golden Eagles
MILWAUKEE -Â The Marquette University men's tennis team took a 4-2 decision over Eastern Illinois Sunday evening at Elite Sports Club (North Shore). Â
MU started doubles play with the advantage by taking the No. 3 win by default due to EIU having five active players for the match. Blake Roegner and Tin Krstulovic earned a win at No. 1 in a dominate fashion (6-1). Finishing out the last point, Jan Jauch and Jasper Schaadt took their match at No. 2 (6-3) shortly after the win at No. 1.
Â
Krstulovic earned the first singles win at No. 2 for the Golden Eagles in straight-set fashion tying the team score at 2-2.
Â
At No. 3 Jauch clinched the win for Marquette in a straight-set victory (6-4, 7-6), the second set came by way of a tiebreaker (7-5) giving MU a 3-2 advantage.
Â
After dropping the first set at No. 1, Roegner posted a tiebreaker (6-7, 6-4, 7-6) Â win to give MU the 4-2 win.
Â
In a rare occasion, the match ended with only six points to account for due to technicality in the inability of both teams being available to provide players at the No. 6 spot.
Â
UP NEXT:Â The Golden Eagles will travel to North Dakota next weekend to take on UND and Montana.Â
