Golden Eagles have won previous eight meetings
MILWAUKEE - Marquette University women's lacrosse continues its stretch of five-of-six games on the road to start the season at Detroit Mercy on Wednesday, Feb. 28. Faceoff from Titan Field is at 12 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
It will be the ninth meeting all-time between Marquette and Detroit Mercy. The Golden Eagles are 8-0 all-time against the Titans.
Detroit Mercy is 0-3 to start the season and is coming off a weekend in Pittsburgh where they played Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh. Senior attacker Cat Kopchia leads the Titans with eight points on eight goals.
CAREER DAY FOR STEINER
• Senior midfielder Leigh Steiner had a career-high five points at Jacksonville on Saturday.
• The Eden Prairie, Minnesota native had two goals and a career-high tying three assists.
MEEHAN FINDING HER STRIDE
• CJ Meehan had career-highs in points (3) and goals (2) at Jacksonville on Saturday.
• The Highlands Ranch, Colorado native has five points in her first three games at MU afer having a goal and assist in the season-opening win against Cincinnati.
STEINER ON PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST TEAM
• Leigh Steiner was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
• Steiner, a two-time captain, has started in 33 of 41 games for Marquette in her career, including all 19 contests last season.
• The senior has 12 points through the first three games this season with six goals and six assists.
BIRELEY MOVING UP ON CAREER LISTS
• Junior attacker Meg Bireley is eighth all-time on the career goals list with 89 for her career.
• Bireley is tied for 10th all-time on the career assists list at 30.
JOSIE HITS 100 CAREER DCs
• Senior Josie Kropp hit 100 career draw controls after having six in the season-opening win over Cincinnati.
• Kropp has 116 for her career, eighth all-time at MU, and is one of nine player in program history to have 100-or-more draw controls in their career.
