
WBB Completes Comeback at Providence to Win 66-62

Golden Eagles return home to host Georgetown Wednesday night
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Marquette women's basketball team came back from being down 23-9 after one to beat Providence 66-62 on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles (17-5, 6-5 BIG EAST) were held to nine points in the first, the third time this season Marquette has been held to single digits in a quarter. MU battled back and shot an even 50-percent in the second, outscoring the Friars by five to cut the lead to nine at half.
There was one lead change in the game. Marquette took the lead with a Mackenzie Hare three at the 4:37 mark of the fourth quarter. The Golden Eagles outscored the Friars 23-12 in the final frame.
Frannie Hottinger led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds, her fourth double-double of the season and first since having 14 points and 21 boards against App State on Dec. 21, 2023. Jordan King had 17 points, including a pair of free throws with one second left to ice the game.
Liza Karlen (13) and Mackenzie Hare (10) were the other two Golden Eagles in double-figures.
Providence (11-12, 5-5 BIG EAST) was led by Emily Archibald who had 18 points. Leading scorer Olivia Olsen (14.6 ppg) was held to eight points.

- The Golden Eagles have taken the last 14 meeting over the Friars. It is the second longest current winning streak against a BIG EAST opponent. Marquette has 15 wins in a row over Xavier.
- Marquette is 13-2 all-time playing at Providence.
- The Friars led by as many as 18 points, the largest deficit in a win this season. Previous was 11 at Illinois State on Dec. 10, 2023.
- Frannie Hottinger led the team in scoring for the third time this season.
- Jordan King had 11 fourth quarter points, the most points in the final frame by a Marquette player this season.
- King moved into eighth on the all-time scoring list with 1,703 career points. King passed Angel Robinson (2007-11). King and Robinson are the only two players in program history with 1,500 career points and 500 career assists.
- King moved into seventh on the all-time field goals made list with 648 for her career. King passed Erika Davenport (2015-19) who had 644 career field goals.
