WBB Hosts Georgetown Wednesday Night for Play4Kay and Female Forward Game

The Marquette women's basketball team hosts Georgetown Wednesday night for its annual Play4Kay game.

Wednesday's contest on FS1 will be the BIG EAST's annual Female Forward broadcast with Lisa Byington (play-by-play), Kim Adams (analyst), and Isis Young (sideline) on the call.

PLAY4KAY

• Wednesday's game is a Play4Kay Pink Game.

• Play4Kay is the largest fundraising initiative of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and the vision of its founder, Olympic Gold Medal winning and Naismith Hall of fame coach, Kay Yow. For Coach Yow it was simple, to unite people through sport in the fight against cancer.

• Through Play4Kay, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has national impact, extending hope to survivors & thrivers by raising money for life-saving cancer research and underserved programs that provide access to quality cancer healthcare. As a result of Play4Kay, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has awarded over $8 million towards this fight.

FEMALE FORWARD

• Wednesday's game is the BIG EAST's Female Forward game of the year.

• To celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day, the FS1 broadcast will feature an entirely female crew, including talent and production.

• In her fifth season at the helm of Marquette women's basketball, Coach Duffy has the best winning percentage of any coach in MU history, going 104-42 (.712) overall and 59-28 (.678) in BIG EAST play.
• MU is one of 14 schools to have multiple players on Naismith Starting 5 awards Top 10 lists (Jordan King & Liza Karlen).
• Rose Nkumu is first in the nation with a 3.58 assist-to-turnover ratio.
• Liza Karlen is averaging 20.2 points and 7.7 rebounds in conference play.
• Mackenzie Hare is fifth in the nation in 3-point percentage (46.9) and 3's made (68).

SCOUTING THE HOYAS
• Georgetown is coming off a 44-42 win against DePaul on Sunday.
• Graceann Bennett (12 points, 13 rebounds) and Mya Bembry (12 points, 10 rebounds) both had double-doubles.
• Senior guard Kelsey Ransom was voted Preseason All-BIG EAST.
• The Hoyas were picked to finish 10th in the preseason coaches' poll.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST GEORGETOWN
• Wednesday's game will be the 31st meeting between Marquette and Georgetown.
• The Golden Eagles have taken the last 12 games over the Hoyas, and are 14-1 against Georgetown at home.
• The current 12-game winning streak is the third-highest against a BIG EAST opponent. MU has beaten Xavier 15 times in a row and Providence 14.
• Marquette won both meetings last season by double-digits by an average margin of 19.0 points.

KARLEN ON BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
• Liza Karlen was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second-straight week on Monday.
• The senior forward averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 50-percent shooting in two road games last week.
