WLAX Opens 2024 Season Sunday against Cincinnati

Golden Eagles and Bearcats have played every year since MU’s first season in 2013
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette women's lacrosse team opens the 2024 season on Sunday, Feb. 11 against Cincinnati at the Valley Fields Dome. The game will cap of National Marquette Day weekend's athletic events with a noon Central time faceoff.
The game will be broadcast on FloSports with Matt Menzl (play-by-play) and Eric Simon (analyst) on the call.
Marquette and Cincinnati have met 11 times, with MU leading the all-time series 8-3. The Bearcats are the second-most played opponent outside of conference play.
The Golden Eagles won last year's meeting in Cincinnati, 19-13, on Feb. 19, 2023. It was MU's third game of the season. Both teams came into the contest undefeated, and with the win, Marquette started off 3-0 for the best start in program history.
Meg Bireley had a hat trick and two assists while Brynna Nixon played all 60 minutes and recorded eight saves.
Hannah Greving, Leigh Steiner and Tess Osburn all had two points.
Cincinnati is coming off an 11 win season where they went 3-3 in the American Athletic Conference. The Bearcats have three AAC Preseason All-Conference picks in Camryn Callaghan, Ava Goeller, and Dani Mikvy.
New this spring, Marquette Athletics is enforcing a clear bag policy at its athletic venues. Clutch purses, totes and belt bags are permissible, as are bags deemed medically necessary after inspection at the entrance. A further explanation of the policy can be found here.
