Golden Eagles have won four out of five matchups all-time over Purple Eagles
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University women's lacrosse team wraps up its stretch of five-of-six games on the road to start the season at Niagara on Sunday, March 3.
Faceoff from Niagara Field will be at 11 a.m. CT. Sunday's game will be broadcast on the school's website, PurpleEagles.com.
It will be the sixth meeting all-time between Marquette and Niagara. The Golden Eagles are 4-1 all-time against the Purple Eagles.
LAST TIME OUT
• Marquette is coming off a 19-7 win at Detroit Mercy on Wednesday.
• Golden Eagles had nine different players on the goal sheet. Leigh Steiner and Meg Bireley had four goals each. Bireley added two assists for a game-high six points.
• Marquette dominated the draw control, winning 24 out of 28 opportunities. The Golden Eagles had season-highs in shots (44) and shots on goal (32).
13 UNANSWERED WEDNESDAY IN DETROIT
• Detroit Mercy had a 6-5 advantage midway throught he second quarter Wednesday before Leigh Steiner tied it up with 4:32 remaining in the second.
• That would start a streak of 13 unanswered goals for MU that went from the 4:32 of the second quarter to three minutes and seven seconds left in the game when the Titans scored their lone goal of the second half.
JOSIE DOMINATES THE DRAW IN DETROIT
• Junior midfielder Josie Kropp had a career-high 17 draw controls on Wednesday at Detroit Mercy. MU won 24-out-of-28 draw controls on the day.
• 17 tied the record for most draw controls in a single game in program history.
• Marquette won 24-out-of-28 draw controls Wednesday at Detroit Mercy.Â
• Most draws won since having 21 at Butler on April 19, 2023.
