Four-time All-American Niebrugge joins Marquette as Assistant Coach

The Mequon native was a member of two Walker Cup teams and tied for sixth at the 2015 Open Championship
MILWAUKEE – Four-time PING All-American Jordan Niebrugge will serve as an assistant coach for the Marquette University men's golf program, head coach Steve Bailey announced on Wednesday.
"We are very excited Jordan and his wife Molly have decided to join our team," Bailey said. "Jordan's talent and experiences at the highest level, will be a tremendous asset to Marquette Golf. While he is well known for his elite golf resume, our players will also benefit from the positive values he exemplifies."
During his NCAA career at Oklahoma State, Niebrugge (pronounced NEE-brew-ghee) competed on a pair of USA Walker Cup teams (2013 and 2015) and earned the silver medal at the Old Course at St. Andrew's in the 2015 Open Championship as the event's low amateur. His 11-under 277 at St. Andrew's broke Bobby Jones' record for lowest score by an amateur and placed him in a tie for sixth, just four strokes behind event champion Zach Johnson.
In his other major championship finish, he tied for 35th at the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills Golf Course, site of the annual Marquette Intercollegiate. He also competed at the 2014 Masters Tournament and 2016 Open Championship.
Niebrugge, a native of nearby Mequon, Wisconsin, is one of the most accomplished amateur golfers in state history as one of only two individuals ever to accomplish a 'Wisconsin Slam.' He became the State Open's youngest-ever champion in 2011 as a rising senior at Homestead High School and was named a two-time state player of the year by the Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin.
Following 2011 Wisconsin State Open and 2012 WIAA titles, he produced a 2013 amateur winning streak that included the 112th Wisconsin State Amateur and 2013 WSGA Match Play Championship in addition to victories at the 111th Western Amateur Championship at The Alotian Club in Roland, Arkansas and the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship at Laurel Hill in Lorton, Virginia. The Public Links victory for the then-19-year old Niebrugge secured a spot in his first major championship event, the 2014 Masters.
While at OSU, Niebrugge was the 2016 Big 12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year as senior and a four-time first team all-conference performer. He claimed individual medalist honors at the 2015 NCAA New Haven Regional and finished in the top 10 at each of the four regionals in which he competed. Niebrugge posted his highest finish in NCAA stroke play as a senior in 2016 (tied for 17th) and was part of a Cowboys squad in 2014 that fell in the final of NCAA match play to national champion Alabama.
He was a finalist for the Byron Nelson Award in 2016 at OSU before embarking on a pro career that included his first professional victory in 2018 at the Freedom 55 Financial Open on the Mackenzie Tour. He finished 14th in the Order of Merit that season and recorded five top-15 finishes on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Niebrugge earned a bachelor's degree in entrepreneurship with a minor in marketing and sports management from Oklahoma State in 2016.
He and his wife Molly were married in 2022 and the couple resides in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, just six miles from the MU campus.
Niebrugge replaces former MU associate head coach Jace Long, who departed earlier this month for LSU, where he joins fellow former MU assistants Chris Williams (assistant coach at 2024 NCAA Champion Auburn) and Gator Todd (head coach at Kentucky) in the Southeastern Conference.
