Golden Eagles honor seniors before taking on Edgewood Thursday night
EVANSTON, ILLINOIS - The Marquette University men's soccer team (3-2-1, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) drops 1-0 decision at No. 9 Northwestern (5-1-0, 0-0-0 Big Ten) Monday evening at Martin Stadium.
The first half of action was highlighted by a midfield and defensive battle between the two squads.
Marquette recorded five shots, with only one being on goal.
Marten Brink tallied one save in the first half as Northwestern only registered one shot on goal.
After a continued defensive contest to start and mostly through the second half, in the 84th minute Northwestern found the back of the net off with a header coming from a corner kick.
Marquette turned up the pressure on the Wildcats backline in the last five minutes of the match but were unable to level the score at one.
Marquette finished with 12 shots with only two of them being on goal.
Northwestern finished the match with 11 shots with three of them being on goal.
