PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Marquette University men's soccer team (5-5-2, 0-5-0 BIG EAST) suffered another 1-0 loss in conference play on Friday night, this time at Providence.

After Providence attempted the first three shots of the match, Andreas Fotland forced the first save of the night in the in the 14th minute.
The Golden Eagles continued to probe for the opener, seeing it nearly come in the 31st minute. A scramble on the edge of the Friars' six-yard box saw Kyle Bebej's initial attempt knocked away by the Providence keeper. The loose ball was pounced on by Nico Pendleton but his shot was blocked.
A minute later, Providence's Sam Montalto teed up a corner that found the head of Pearse O'Brien on the back post to give the home side a 1-0 advantage.
With the clock ticking down toward halftime, Simpson came up with a crucial save with 45 seconds remaining. Again, off a corner from the right side, the Friars got a free header off in the box but Simpson got down quickly to smother the ball.
