Marquette Meets Familiar Non-League Foe
     Â
Saturday's outing concludes a home-and-home series against Purdue, a team the Golden Eagles have met on five occasions in the last eight seasons, including each of the last four campaigns.
  Â
Purdue has claimed 11 of the 13 meetings all-time between the two programs in a series that dates back to 1931-32.  In the most recent outing, however, guard Kam Jones collected the program's third triple-double (17 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists) in a 76-58 Marquette victory on Nov. 19, 2024 at Fiserv Forum.  Â
  Â
The Boilermakers claimed a 75-73 overtime victory on March 15, 1969 in the NCAA Mideast Regional final, courtesy of a buzzer-beating jumper by Rick Mount. Â Marquette had defeated Murray State and No. 7 Kentucky in the tourney, but Al McGuire's squad came up just short in its bid for a first-ever Final Four trip. Â Marquette was led by legendary George Thompson, who scored 28 points in his final collegiate game.
Stevens Shines In First Start
  Â
Freshman guard Adrien Stevens made his first-career start at Wisconson last Saturday afternoon and collected a personal-best performance in the team's first true road game of the campaign.
  Â
The Potomac, Maryland, native led the team with a season-high 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor overall and a 3-of-7 effort from behind the 3-point line. Â He also chipped in two rebounds, an assist and a steal in just 22 minutes of action. Â Prior to Saturday, Stevens' previous scoring high was a nine-point effort against Valparaiso on Dec. 2.
Ross' Name Found Frequently In BIG EAST StatsÂ
  Â
Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team selection Chase Ross is ranked among the league leaders in seven categories.
  Â
Ross extended his career-best double-figure streak to 10 games (previous best was four-straight in 2024-25) with 12 points against Wisconsin on Dec. 6 and after entering the season with a pair of career games of 20-or-more points in 102 outings, he now owns four in the first 10 contests.
  Â
Through games of Dec. 10, the Dallas native ranks among the league leaders in scoring (1st, 19.5 ppg.), field goal percentage (5th, .484), free throw percentage (13th, .765), assists (t8th, 3.6 apg.), steals (3rd, 2.10 spg.), assist-to-turnover ratio (13th, 1.71) and minutes played (2nd, 32.5 mpg.).
Jones' Name Scattered In Box Score In ReturnÂ
  Â
Guard Sean Jones missed the entire 2024-25 campaign after injuring his knee against Butler on Jan. 10, 2024, finally returning to action in the season opener against UAlbany on Nov. 3 for his first-career-start.
  Â
He played in the team's first three outings, before a shoulder injury suffered in practice kept him out of six games before returning against Wisconsin. Â In 24 minutes off the bench, the Columbus, Ohio, native finished with eight points, six assists (matched personal best - Southern - 11/28/23), four rebounds and a pair of steals versus the Badgers.
