Golden Eagles return to action Feb. 18 vs. Seton Hall

MILWAUKEE - The No. 18/16 Marquette University men's basketball team got back in the win column, defeating the DePaul Blue Demons, 68-58, on Tuesday night at Fiserv Forum.Â
The Golden Eagles (19-6, 10-4 BIG EAST) were led by 19 points from senior guard Kam Jones, who etched his name into the No. 3 spot in the MU career record book and moved past 2009-10 Associated Press All-America selection Lazar Hayward (1,859 points).
MU went up 16-8 to open play but led by just two, 34-32, at the break. DePaul tied things at 36 to start the second half before Marquette took off on a 16-2 run to take its largest lead of the game, 57-42, with 7:08 remaining.Â
DePaul (11-14, 2-12 BIG EAST) was led by CJ Gunn's 14 points and two assists. Â
NOTABLEÂ
- Kam Jones moved into third place on the MUÂ scoring list and now has 1,870 points in his career. Jones entered the night with 1,851 career points and is now 115 points behind Jerel McNeal (1,985) for second on the all-time ledger.Â
- Jones extended his streak of consecutive games scoring in double digits to an NCAA Division I-leading 41.Â
- MU improves to 87-50 all-time against the Blue Demons and the 137 meetings are MU's most against a single opponent. Marquette is now 49-15 against DePaul in Milwaukee.Â
- David Joplin played in his 130th career game, tying him with McNeal for fourth in MU history.Â
- Tuesday's win is Marquette's first this season when failing to reach 70 points. MU's low mark in a victory was previously 72 points in a 72-70 win at Xavier on Dec. 21.Â
- MU sophomore guard Tre Norman tied a season-high with 16 minutes played and posted his third career game with at least five rebounds. He ended his night with five points, five rebounds and a pair of assistsÂ
- MU freshman big Royce Parham has picked up his play in recent games off the bench and had seven points, two rebounds and a steal in 15 minutes.
