Series With Seton Hall Dates Back To 1956
  Â
The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series with Seton Hall, 25-14, with all but one of the matchups coming after MU joined the BIG EAST Conference in 2005-06.
  Â
SHU opened the series with a 96-78 victory over Marquette on March 17, 1956 in MU's first-ever appearance in the National Invitation Tournament in New York. The next meeting wouldn't come until 50 years later when Marquette moved to the BIG EAST.
  Â
The Golden Eagles posted a 76-59 win at Seton Hall on Jan. 21, 2024 in the first matchup this season. Â Guard Kam Jones led three players in double figures with 19 points and MU's defense turned 24 Pirate turnovers (thanks to 53 deflections) into 23 points.
Marquette Honoring Chones, Ighodaro Tuesday
  Â
A consensus All-America selection in 1971-72, Jim Chones will become the 10th player in program history to have his jersey (22) retired on Tuesday night.
  Â
The Racine, Wisconsin native amassed 952 points and 583 rebounds during his 50-game Marquette playing career (Marquette was 49-1 in those games).
  Â
Considered by many to be the most complete big man in the country entering his junior year, Chones ranks among MU's all-time leaders in scoring average (19.0 ppg.), rebounding average (11.7 rpg.), and field-goal percentage (54.7 percent).
  Â
Chones went on to enjoy a 10-year professional playing career with five different teams and in 1980 won an NBA Championship as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers along with former Marquette star Butch Lee.
  Â
Oso Ighodaro, who is in his rookie season with the Phoenix Suns, will be recognized with the 79th annaul McCahill Award, presented to the top senior student-athlete at Marquette in 2023-24.
