WBB Earns 69-51 Win Over Providence Wednesday Night

Golden Eagles travel to Georgetown Saturday night
The Marquette University women's basketball team continued BIG EAST play Wednesday night with a 69-51 win over Providence at the Al McGuire Center.
The Golden Eagles (18-8, 10-5 BIG EAST) had two in double-figures led by Lee Volker, who had 14 points, four rebounds, four assists and two steals. Jaidynn Mason had 11 points, four assists and three steals.
The first half saw eight lead changes and six ties with both team's largest lead being three points. Jaidynn Mason hit a jumper before the buzzer to give MU a one-point edge at the break, 32-31.
Marquette started the second half on a 10-0 run led by Lee Volker and Jaidynn Mason who had five points each. The Golden Eagles outscored the Friars 24-5 in the third quarter, holding the Friars to just 16.7 percent shooting.
The Golden Eagles led by as many as 20 in the second half, the third-largest lead over a BIG EAST opponent this season. MU led by 25 against Georgetown on Jan. 25, 2025 and by 31 at Xavier on Jan. 29, 2025.
Providence (11-18, 4-12 BIG EAST) was led by Olivia Olsen, who had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

- Third win this season being outrebounded by the opponent.
- Golden Eagles hit eight threes, the second-most in a BIG EAST game this season. Marquette hit nine 3-pointers at Xavier on Jan. 29, 2025.
- MU had 22Â bench points, the most bench points in a BIG EAST game this season.
- Lee Volker had her 18th game of the season scoring in double-figures and fourth in the last five games.
