Marquette making first trip to Wells Fargo Center since 2017-18
The No. 16/15 Marquette University men's basketball team (20-6, 11-4 BIG EAST) continues BIG EAST action at Villanova (15-12, 8-8 BIG EAST) on Friday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. CT. Â FS1 features the national television broadcast from the Wells Fargo Center, with Alex Faust (play-by-play) and Donny Marshall (analyst) calling the action. Â Following Friday's outing the Golden Eagles host Providence at 6 p.m. CT on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
Series With Wildcats Dates Back To 1960

Villanova holds a 27-20 advantage over Marquette in an all-time series that dates back to 1960.

Along with regular season and tournament matchups in league play, the two teams also squared off in the 1963 National Invitation Tournament and the 1980 NCAA Championship.  Marquette downed the Wildcats 66-58 in the NIT, but fell 77-59 in the opening round of the NCAA's in Providence, R.I.

The Wildcats have been ranked in the top-15 in 19 of the last 26 meetings against Marquette, including four matchups as the top-ranked team in the land, but the Golden Eagles have claimed each of the last eight outings.
   Pennsylvania native Stevie Mitchell led three players in double figures with 21 points and guard Kam Jones chipped in 16 points, five rebounds and five assists is an 87-74 win on Jan. 24, 2025 at Fiserv Forum.
Mitchell Returning To Home State For Final TimeÂ

Senior guard Stevie Mitchell is looking for a strong performance in what could be his final appearance against his home-state opponent Villanova.Â

In Mitchell's last six games against Nova over the past three seasons, the Reading native has averaged 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.67 steals per contest, while shooting 59.3% from the floor (32-of-54). Â He scored a then career-best 21 points in the most recent matchup on Jan. 24, chipping in four rebounds and three steals in 33 minutes of action.

Mitchell played just seven minutes combined, and posted a single shot, in two matchups with VU as a true freshman during the 2021-22 campaign.
