Jarmond extends win streak to five
DES MOINES, Iowa - The Marquette University women's tennis team fell 4-3 to Drake at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center in Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday night.
The Bulldogs opened the match by securing the crucial doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, taking a 1-0 lead.
Drake extended their lead in singles play, winning the matches at the No. 4 and No. 6 positions to take a 3-0 advantage.
Tiera Jarmond earned the first point for MU at No. 1 in two sets (7-5, 6-2). Jarmond is currently on a five-match winning streak while splitting time between the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.
Emma Davis recorded the second MU point at No. 3 in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 6-1).
Despite the Golden Eagles' comeback, which made the score 3-2, Drake clinched the team victory shortly after Davis' win with a three-set victory at No. 2.
Freshman Joelle Fiallo Schad earned a three-set win at No. 5 (7-5, 3-6, 6-4), giving Marquette its third point of the match.
UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles will host NIU on March. 5 at 4 p.m. at Sprovieri Tennis Complex.
