Golden Eagles begin two-game BIG EAST road swing
The Marquette University women's basketball team travels to Butler on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. CT. The BIG EAST Digital Network on FloCollege features the broadcast with Joey Lindstrom (play-by-play) and AB Stocks (analyst) on the call.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST BUTLER
• Marquette and Butler are meeting for the 33rd time on Sunday in a series that dates back to the 1986 season.
• MU leads the all-time series 23-9 and have won the last 10 meetings.
FIRST MEETING THIS SEASON
• Marquette beat Butler 57-54 on Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Al McGuire Center.
• Skylar Forbes led the Golden Eagles with a game-high 21 points, six rebounds and three blocks. Halle Vice added 10 points and five rebounds.
• The game had eight lead changes and nine ties with Marquette having the largest lead of the game at six points in the middle of the second quarter.
• A free throw with one minute remaining gave the Bulldogs a 54-53 lead. Lee Volker gave Marquette the lead back with 30 seconds left on a layup (55-54) before Skylar Forbes sealed the win with two free throws with one second left. Forbes (eight points) and Lee Volker (seven points) combined for 15 of MU's 22 fourth quarter total.
VOLKER AND FORBES COMBINE FOR 29 OF MU'S 57 POINTS WEDNESDAY
• Skylar Forbes (15 points) and Lee Volker (14 points) accounted for over 50 percent of MU's points in the 57-55 win over St. John's on Wednesday night.
• The Golden Eagles are 10-2 this season when Forbes and Volker both score in double-figures.
