Golden Eagles and Dukes third meeting all-time, first since 1994
The Marquette University women's basketball team plays No. 1 seed James Madison in the second round of the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament on Sunday, March 23 at 3 p.m. CT in Harrisonburg.

MARQUETTE COMES BACK TO BEAT DRAKE IN FIRST ROUND
- The Golden Eagles came back from being down 10 at the break to beat Drake, 74-69, in the first round of the WBIT on Thursday afternoon.
- Halle Vice and Skylar Forbes had 18 points each.
- Jaidynn Mason added 16 points and six assists with 14 points coming in the second half.
- Marquette led by four, 20-16, after the first quarter. Halle Vice led all scorers with 10 points in the first frame. Drake outscored Marquette 24-10 in the second quarter to take a 10-point lead into halftime.
- The Golden Eagles outscored Drake 25-16 in the third to make it a one-point game headed to the fourth.
- There were four ties and one lead change in the fourth quarter. A Bridget Utberg three tied the game at 63 with 4:59 to go. MU took the lead after a Jaidynn Mason jumper with 3:39 remaining.
- The Golden Eagles tied their largest lead of the game, leading 69-64 at the 1:56 mark before a 5-0 Drake Run tied it with 1:09 remaining. MU would hold Drake scoreless the rest of the way with a jumper from Mason and free throws from Forbes and Olivia Porter completing the comeback.
- Â James Madison is coming off a 77-50 win over Davidson in the first round of the WBIT on Thursday.
- Â The Dukes have been a No. 1 seed in the WNIT the last two seasons.
- Â Redshirt-junior guard Peyton McDaniel was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year. Graduate student guard Ro Scott was named SBC Sixth Woman of the Year.
- Â McDaniel averaged 16.0 points and 8.4 rebounds to anchor a JMU team that went 27-4 in the regular season with a perfect 18-0 mark in Sun Belt play.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST JAMES MADISON
- Â Sunday will be the third meeting all-time between Marquette and Drake, with MU leading the series 2-0.
- Â The programs have not met since the 1994-95 season, when MU won 81-65 at the Hawkeye Classic in Iowa City, Iowa.
