Golden Eagles back in action next weekend
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's tennis team dropped 6-1 decision to St. John's Sunday afternoon to close out the home portion of its schedule.
The Golden Eagles honored Tiera Jarmond before the match began. Jarmond has been a key contributor to Marquette this season. The Austin, Texas native made the jump from playing the No. 5 spot last season to the No. 1 and No. 2 spots this season. Jarmond will graduate this spring with a degree in Public Relations.
The Red Storm opened the match by securing the crucial doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots, taking a 1-0 lead.
St. John's picked up five straight singles wins to clinch the team victory.
Marquette's lone point in the match came by way of a win by retirement at the No. 6 position.
UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles will travel to Omaha, Nebraska, to take on Creighton on Friday, March 28, and Nebraska Omaha on Saturday, March 29.
