Four Golden Eagles finish with double figures in points.
Milwaukee – The Marquette University men's basketball team (8-14, 3-8 BIG EAST) defeated Creighton (12-9, 6-4 BIG EAST) 86-62 Tuesday night at Fiserv Forum.Â
Freshman guard Nigel James Jr. led all Marquette scorers, finishing with 21 points and seven assists. Sophomore forward Royce Parham, freshman guard Adrien Stevens and senior guard Chase Ross chipped in 19, 13 and 11 points, respectively.Â
Both teams traded baskets to start the game, but the Golden Eagles used a 14-2 run over four minutes to get out to an early 19-9 lead. Marquette's offense continued to soar throughout the half, going on a 28-4 run to take a 52-23 lead into the break. The Golden Eagles shot 55.6 percent from beyond the arc and 68.8 percent from the field in the first frame. Â
In the second half, Marquette held off Creighton's attempts to get back into the game, maintaining its first-half advantage to secure its third conference victory.Â
