The Marquette women's tennis team had a rough weekend this weekend, getting beaten by the Ohio State Buckeyes 6-1.
Marquette's only victory came from the No. 6 position. Junior Alex Stankovic (Sweden) defeated Lindsay Bryan 6-2, 2-6 (8). Unfortunately, Stankovic did not fair as well in doubles action. She and teammate sophomore Annabelle Espinosa (Panama City, Panama) were defeated by Michelle Matko and Lindsay Williams, 8-6.
The women have had a difficult time on the road, losing to both Minnesota and Duke earlier this season. They are more comfortable in the friendly confines of the Helfaer Tennis Stadium, where they have won their only match this season. Unfortunately, their schedule does not help them, as they do not play a home match again until Feb. 23 against Northern Illinois.
Up next for the Golden Eagles are the Indiana Hoosiers. The Hoosiers are on a roll after defeating the No. 13 ranked Notre Dame Fightin' Irish earlier today.
