LOVELAND, Ohio ? The Marquette golf team is in fourth place of 19 teams at the Xavier Invitational at the Oasis Golf Club in Loveland, Ohio. The Golden Eagles are 13 shots off the pace of tournament leader, Louisville.
Freshman Mike Van Sickle, who has been MU's leading scorer in each tournament so far this season, is in third place, three shots off the lead. He shot a first round 68 and second round 69 to shoot seven under. Eight under is the school record, which he shot in the first tournament of the season at the John Piper Intercollegiate.
Xavier's John Streibich leads the individual portion of the tournament, sitting at 10-under, 134.
Sophomore Ted Gray is also in the hunt for the tournament title. He shot a six under, 138, and is in sixth place.
Senior Nathan Colson is in 36th place at 145. Seniors Joe Weber and Steve Sass are tied for 84th at 155.
Final round play begins tomorrow, October 11, at 8 a.m. EDT in Loveland, Ohio.
