LANDSDOWNE, Va. ? The Marquette golf team is in fifth place following the first 18 holes at the Hoya Invitational at the Golf Club in Landsdowne.
Marquette is 10 strokes behind the leaders, Eastern Michigan. EMU shot an even 288. Marquette was 10-over, 298.
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles is senior Kyle Murphy, who is in a tie for fourth place at two-under, 70. He is three strokes behind Eastern Michigan's Graham Hill, who is at five-under 67.
The rest of the Marquette team shot 75 or higher. Senior Joe Weber and freshman Mike Van Sickle each shot 75 and are in 25th place. Senior Nathan Colson shot 78 (43rd place) and sophomore Ted Gray shot an 80 (53rd place).
Final round play begins tomorrow, Sunday, Oct. 23, at 8 a.m. EDT.
