Golden Eagles finish two tournaments in four days

CHARLOTTE, N.C. ? The Marquette golf team placed eighth as it completed a whirlwind two tournaments in four days schedule, playing 90 competitive holes in that time frame.
The Golden Eagles shot 308, matching its second round total, bettering its first round total by a stroke. Marquette shot a 61-over, 925 for the event. Charlotte, the host team, won the event by 20 strokes, shooting 20-over, 884.
Senior Nathan Colson had the best finish for any MU golfer. He placed in a tie for 12th, shooting a 10-over, 226, for the event. Charlotte's Ray Sheedy won the tournament by nine strokes. He was the only golfer under par, shooting four-under.
Senior Joe Weber was two strokes behind Colson, shooting a 12-over, 228. He was in 17th place.
Freshman Mike Van Sickle finished in 42nd place with a 17-over, 233. Sophomore Ted Gray placed 58th with a 22-over, 238. Senior Kyle Murphy finished 69th with a 26-over, 242.
Marquette concludes its fall season with the BIG EAST/MAC Challenge, November 5-6 in Winter Garden, Fla.
