BEALLSVILLE, Md. - The Marquette golf team shot a 307 through 18 holes at the Hoya Invitational in Beallsville, Md. Halfway through the 36-hole tournament, the Golden Eagles are in eighth place of 12.
Marquette shot a 307 for the first round. MU is nine shots behind William & Mary, who leads the tournament at 15-under, 299.
William & Mary's Matt Brantingam leads the individual standings with the only sub-par score of the day. He shot a three-under, 68.
Sophomore Mike Van Sickle led Marquette scorers with a five-over, 76. He is in 21st place.
Three Golden Eagles sit tied for 25th place at six-over, 77. The trio includes junior Michael Bielawski, sophomore Dustin Schwab and junior Ted Gray.
Freshman Michal McDonald was the non-scorer for Marquette in the first 18 holes. He shot a 10-over, 81, to sit in 57th place following 18 holes.
Play concludes on Sunday, October 22 with a 7 a.m. tee time.
