Golfers 11th at Pinehurst Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C. - The Marquette golf team is in 11th of 18 teams through 18 holes at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, N.C. The Golden Eagles shot a 306 in the first round. Despite being in the lower half in the team standings, Marquette is just 13 shots off the pace of the leading team, SMU, who shot a 293.
Marshall's Trent Schambach led the individual scoring at three-under, 69. Marquette's sophomore duo of Dustin Schwab and Mike Van Sickle are in a tie for 21st at three-over, 75. Schwab's round was highlighted by an eagle on the 500-yard par five 17th.
Junior Ted Gray is in a tie for 34th at four-over, 76. Junior Michael Bielawski is in 70th at eight-over, 80. Freshman Ben Sieg is in 94th at 14-over, 86.
Play continues on Monday at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate with the second of three rounds.
