Golfers Shoot to Fourth Place Finish at Xavier Invitational

LOVELAND, Ohio - Marquette jumped six places in the final round to finish fourth at the Xavier Invitational in Loveland, Ohio.
Coming into the final round, Marquette was in a tie for 10th. The Golden Eagles recorded the second best final round team score, shooting 277, to leap into the top four teams in the standings.
Leading the way for Marquette were junior Michael Bielawski and sophomore Dustin Schwab , who each shot 68s in the final 18 holes. In all, each MU player shot par of better in the final round. Freshman Ben Sieg shot a 70. Junior Ted Gray fired a 71, and sophomore Mike Van Sickle carded an even-par, 72.
The Golden Eagles finished the tournament with a team score of 15-under, 849. Xavier, the host school, shot a tournament-best 270 to vault past Maryland to the team title.
Xavier's Jason Kokrak won the individual title at 14-under, 202.
Bielawski, who finished second in this tournament two years ago as a freshman, completed the 54 holes with a six-under, 210 to finish 12th. Schwab also finished 12th with the 210 score.
Van Sickle shot four-under, 212 to place 18th. Gray carded a three-under, 219 to place 49th. Sieg finished 70th at nine-over, 225.
The Golden Eagles return to action on October 21-22 at the Hoya Invitational.
