MILWAUKEE - MILWAUKEE -- In the finals of the Wisconsin State Golf Association state bestball championship, four former MU golfers went head to head to determine the title.
In the end, Nathan Colson and Jason Gaare claimed the crown, their second, defeating Kyle Murphy and Joe Weber, 1-up, at the Fox Valley Golf Club in Kaukauna. Colson and Gaare also won the event in 2003.
The two teams survived a field of 124 teams to meet in the finals.
"To think that nearly 250 golfers were in this tournament and the final match came down to four Marquette players is pretty spectacular," head coach Tim Grogan said of his four former team members.
The Marquette foursome last played together last season, when Gaare was a senior and Colson, Murphy and Weber were in their second to last seasons.
