Golfers Finish 6th in Season Opening Tournament

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - Marquette finished its season-opening tournament in sixth place at the Rich Harvest Farms Intercollegiate. The Golden Eagles shot a 310 in the final round to finish at 922, +58. Louisville won the event, going away with an 895, +31.
Mike Van Sickle fell to 10th place after sitting in third following the first two rounds. Van Sickle led MU with a 10-over, 226. He was five shots behind tournament winners Derek Fathauer of Louisville and SMU's Colt Knost.
Ted Gray also slipped in the standings, dropping to 19th place after finishing with a 14-over, 230.
Junior Mike Bielawski and freshman Mike McDonald tied for 34th place at 21-over 237. McDonald vaulted up the standings after finishing the second round in 52nd place. McDonald shot a final round 74.
Sophomore Dustin Schwab rounded out the MU scoring with a 32-over, 248, finishing 60th.
Marquette returns to action on September 22-23 as it takes part in The McLaughlin in Farmingdale, N.Y.
