Golfers Rest in Third After 36 Holes at The McLaughlin

FARMINGDALE, N.Y. - Playing in their second tournament of the fall season, Marquette has put on a strong showing through the first two rounds of The McLaughlin in Farmingdale, N.Y. The Golden Eagles are in third place, five shots back of leader Akron and three shots behind second place St. John's.
Two MU golfers are in striking distance of the individual lead. Junior Michael Bielawski started the tourney hot carding a 67 in the first round. He finished the day at 138, two shots behind co-leaders Blake Sattler of Akron and J.J. Shearer of Binghamton. Sophomore Mike Van Sickle is tied with Bielawski at 138. His push came in the second round when he carded a 65 in the second round, tying Sattler's first round 65 for the low round of tournament.
Sophomore Dustin Schwab is at four over after shooting consecutive rounds of 72. Schwab is in 19th place. Freshman Ben Sieg made his collegiate debut, shooting a 75 and 71 to record a 146. He is in 35th place. Junior Ted Gray shot 148 for the two rounds and sits in 53rd place.
Play concludes on Saturday, September 23 with the final 18 holes.
