Marquette Drops a 5-2 Decision at UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev.--The Marquette women's tennis team opened its trip to Las Vegas on Tuesday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex, but fell in a 5-2 decision at UNLV.
The Golden Eagles fall to 6-5 on the season, but will face Ohio State on Friday on UNLV's courts.
The Rebels earned the doubles point, but the tandem of senior Rocio Diaz and sophomore Erin Gebes improved to 5-1 at the No. 2 position with an 8-3 victory. Gebes also earned a singles victory at the No. 3 slot as she bested Iren Kotseva, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5. Classmate Laia Hernandez Soler also won her singles match, defeating Anett Ferenczi-Bako, 6-3, 6-4 on the No. 5 court. With her win, Hernandez-Soler is 5-3 this spring.
MU's match against the Buckeyes is slated to begin at 11 a.m. Central time on Friday.
