
Eichhorn's 71 Leads Marquette at Erin Hills on Monday

The third-place Golden Eagles enter Tuesday's final round 13 strokes off the lead
ERIN, Wis. — Hunter Eichhorn's even par 72 on Tuesday kept him at 1-under-par and moved him to fifth place, while Marquette sits in third place (591, 15-over-par) through 36 holes at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills.
Eichhorn is four strokes off the pace set by Arizona State's Alex del Rey (5-under-par), while Marquette (289-302) is 13 strokes off the team lead, set by the Sun Devils at 2-over-par. All teams shot over par for their rounds, while only six players in the 72-man field shot below par.
For the second day in a row, rain fell while temperatures hovered in the low 50s. A steady rain fell from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. CT, and play was suspended for an hour at 3:30 p.m. with a threat of lighting in the area.
Following an opening round 71, Eichhorn shot 2-over-par on his first eight holes, before a 3-under-par run covered the next eight holes. His 25 tournament pars in 36 holes are tops in the field.
Oliver Farrell (71-74) sits tied for 10th at 1-over-par, but just six strokes off the lead.
Marquette has a field-best 30 birdie makes.
