
Women’s soccer falls to Mississippi State

The Golden Eagles begin regular season action on Thursday at Cal Poly
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's soccer team fell to Mississippi State, 1-0, in exhibition action on Saturday night at Valley Fields.
Mississippi State's goal came in the 68th minute on a well-struck ball by sophomore forward Gabriella Coleman, who capitalized on a flurry of MSU shot attempts in the second half, as the Bulldogs outshot the Golden Eagles, 9-3.
Goalkeeper Maddy Henry played all 90 minutes in Marquette's second preseason game and made five saves.
Brianna Jaeger had the best offensive opportunity for MU in the 26th minute – Leah Celarek's corner kick found Jaeger at the back post, but her header was saved.
The Golden Eagles play their season opener Thursday, August 16 at Cal Poly at 9 p.m. CT.
